Feeding the Hunger for Service
What is the “new thing” you have perceived God doing?
Creating dissatisfaction – making people hungry for something true, kind and hopeful. – Rev. Serena Sellers
Service Sundays once a month as an outreach and social ministry event. While it is perceived as helping others, it is actually a way for awareness to the members of the congregation. – Gary D’Aprile
How are you cooperating with God in this activity? How can other Christians and congregations help?
We are looking for opportunities to connect people regularly with meaningful hope-creating activity through service and study.
Encourage others in the congregation to participate. – GD
From where did this “new thing” spring forth? What need is God acting to meet through this activity?
This came about from the mission statement of our congregation. – GD
What can you share to help others meeting this need?
The “Service Sunday” model. — SS
What have you learned through this activity? Is there anything you would do differently knowing what you know now?
People of God need to take risks to develop hope. It needs to be safe and easy enough for people to take the chance to participate, but challenging enough to make people see themselves in a new way. — SS
